ISO lathe tooling covers indexable turning inserts, tool holders and boring bars built to the ISO clamping and insert coding standard, so inserts and holders from different manufacturers stay interchangeable.
ISO turning inserts are coded by shape, clearance angle, tolerance and size (e.g. CNMG, DNMG, WNMG, TNMG) and are available in carbide grades for steel, stainless steel, cast iron and non-ferrous materials, plus PCD and PCBN grades for abrasive or hardened work.
Boring bars hold a single-point insert on a long shank to bore, finish and enlarge existing holes. Steel-shank bars suit shorter overhangs; carbide-shank bars resist deflection at higher length-to-diameter ratios, giving a better finish on deep or small-diameter bores.
ISO turning tool holders clamp indexable inserts for external turning, facing and profiling — available in left-hand, right-hand and neutral configurations to suit the approach angle needed for a given operation.
