5C Collets
5C collets are the standard workholding solution for any machine running the 5C taper — lathes, collet chucks, collet blocks and indexing fixtures. They clamp workpieces concentrically and repeat location to within a few tenths, making them the preferred choice for high-volume turning, secondary operations and repetitive machining where part consistency matters. The range covers round bore, emergency, hex and square types in both metric and imperial sizes.
Round bore 5C collets are stocked in metric and imperial sizes to cover the full range of common bar stock diameters. The Vortex metric range runs through the standard metric sizes; the imperial range covers fractional inch sizes. All are steel, hardened and ground bore, suited to bar-fed lathes and manual turning centres.
Emergency 5C collets are supplied with a blank bore for boring in-house to a custom diameter — used for non-standard workpiece sizes, short-run jobs, or wherever a precise fit to a specific diameter is needed without ordering a special. Hex and square bore 5C collets are available for hexagonal and square-section bar stock. Brass and nylon variants are stocked for softer workpieces where a standard steel collet would mark the surface.
