Metric Oversize Taps

Oversize taps cut a thread slightly larger than the standard nominal size, in five tolerance classes from +0.001mm up to +0.015mm above nominal. That extra clearance matters when a hole will be plated or coated after tapping, when re-cutting a thread that's worn or damaged, or when a standard tap has already cut tight in a harder material. All 126 taps in this collection are Wiseman HSS, made in the UK.

Hand taps come in the usual three-tap set progression: taper lead for starting the thread, second lead for continuing it, and bottoming lead for cutting right to the base of a blind hole. Sizes run from M2.5x0.45 up to M36x4, so the range covers everything from small electronics and instrument work through to heavy fabrication threads.

Spiral point and spiral flute taps are stocked across the same tolerance range, for machine tapping through-holes and blind holes rather than hand tapping. All held in UK stock. Order before 4pm and it ships same day.
