What is Vortex Tools?
Vortex Tools is a Protool own brand, built to give engineers cutting tools and workholding at competitive prices. Rather than paying big-brand margins, Vortex lets Protool buy directly from manufacturers, select the products worth stocking, and pass the savings on.
Every Vortex product is quality-checked before it's stocked in our UK warehouse, so you get reliable tooling without the big-brand price tag.
The Vortex range covers five core machining categories: milling, turning, grooving, hole making and work holding. Protool continues to expand the range, adding new lines alongside the products customers already order regularly.
Why Choose Vortex Tools?
Three reasons why engineers across the UK choose Vortex as their go-to tooling brand.
Selected & Quality-Checked
Vortex tools are picked from manufacturers we've vetted and quality-checked before they're stocked — fast feeds, clean finishes and consistent tool life, without the big-brand price tag.
Growing Range
Protool continuously invests in expanding the Vortex portfolio — adding new product lines and restocking the popular items you rely on. The range already spans five major machining categories, with more on the way.

Vortex Tools — Cutting Tools & Workholding from Protool's Own Brand
Vortex Tools is a Protool own brand covering cutting tools and workholding across five machining categories: milling, turning, grooving, hole making and work holding. Protool sources Vortex products from manufacturers worldwide, quality-checks each line, and stocks them at our warehouse in Wrotham, Kent, for same-day dispatch and next-day delivery across mainland UK.
The Vortex Milling range covers solid carbide end mills and indexable milling cutters for steel, stainless, aluminium and cast iron. The Vortex Turning range provides ISO turning inserts and toolholders for lathes and turning centres. The Vortex Grooving range covers parting off, external, internal and face grooving tools and inserts. Vortex Hole Making covers HSS, carbide and indexable drills across metric diameters. The Vortex Work Holding range includes vices, chucks and clamping kits for holding components on the machine.
As a Protool own brand, Vortex products are bought directly from manufacturers rather than through a branded distributor chain, which is how we're able to price them without a big-brand markup. Protool continues to add new Vortex lines alongside restocking the products customers already order regularly.
