Metric ISO
Solid Carbide Thread Mills
Metric Thread Mills
Full-profile and partial-profile options covering M1 upwards. One pitch per full-profile tool, or a range of pitches from a single partial-profile cutter — for steel, stainless, aluminium and titanium.
UN (UNC, UNF, UNEF, UNS)
Solid Carbide Thread Mills
UN Thread Mills
Unified thread mills covering UNC, UNF, UNEF and UNS forms. Standard choice for imperial-dimensioned components in aerospace, automotive and general engineering.
BSP (G)
Solid Carbide Thread Mills
BSP Thread Mills
Parallel pipe thread mills to BS EN ISO 228. BSP (G) threads seal via a washer or O-ring rather than the thread form — these tools cut the cylindrical profile to the correct tolerance.
Whitworth (BSW, BSF)
Solid Carbide Thread Mills
Whitworth Thread Mills
55° thread angle to the original Whitworth form. BSW (coarse) and BSF (fine) — still widely found in legacy tooling, fixtures and older machinery.
BSPT
Solid Carbide Thread Mills
BSPT Thread Mills
Tapered pipe thread mills to BS 21 — 55° angle, 1:16 taper. The taper creates the pressure seal in the thread form itself, so thread geometry is critical to joint integrity.
NPT
Solid Carbide Thread Mills
NPT Thread Mills
US-standard tapered pipe thread mills to ANSI/ASME B1.20.1. 60° thread angle, 1:16 taper. NPT joints seal by thread interference — accuracy on the taper determines whether the joint holds.
NPTF
Solid Carbide Thread Mills
NPTF Thread Mills
NPTF (dryseal) pipe thread mills for metal-to-metal sealing without sealant or tape. Tighter tolerances than standard NPT — specified for hydraulic and pneumatic systems where thread engagement alone must hold pressure.
PG (DIN 40430)
Solid Carbide Thread Mills
PG Thread Mills
Conduit thread mills for PG (Panzergewinde) profiles to DIN 40430. An older German standard still common in industrial electrical installations and cable gland fittings.
UNJ
Solid Carbide Thread Mills
UNJ Thread Mills
Controlled root radius per MIL-S-8879. The larger radius at the thread root reduces stress concentration and improves fatigue life — specified for critical aerospace fasteners.
MJ
Solid Carbide Thread Mills
MJ Thread Mills
Metric aerospace fastener thread mills per ISO 5855. The metric equivalent of UNJ — controlled root radius improves fatigue life in dynamically loaded fasteners on aircraft structures.
60° Partial Profile
Solid Carbide Thread Mills
60 Degree Partial Profile Thread Mills
One tool, multiple pitches. The 60° partial profile covers Metric, UN, NPT and NPTF thread forms — adjust the interpolation radius in your CAM program and one cutter handles a range of sizes without a tool change.
55° Partial Profile
Solid Carbide Thread Mills
55 Degree Partial Profile Thread Mills
One tool for Whitworth, BSP and BSPT. The 55° partial profile cuts the thread flanks without forming the root, giving coverage across multiple pitches and standards from a single cutter.
ACME
Solid Carbide Thread Mills
ACME Thread Mills
29° included angle to US ACME standard. Used in lead screws, machine vices, linear actuators and jacking systems where the thread must transmit load under repeated cycling.
Trapez
Solid Carbide Thread Mills
Trapez Thread Mills
Trapezoidal thread mills to DIN 103 — the metric equivalent of ACME. 30° included angle, used in European machine tool lead screws, column lifts and linear drive mechanisms.
NPS
Solid Carbide Thread Mills
NPS Thread Mills
The same 60° profile as NPT but without the taper. Used where a sealant is applied separately and a parallel thread is required — ports, adapters and fittings that don't rely on thread interference to seal.
NPSF
Solid Carbide Thread Mills
NPSF Thread Mills
NPSF (dryseal) straight pipe thread mills. Mates with external NPTF threads to create a metal-to-metal seal in a straight bore — used for internal ports on hydraulic manifolds and high-pressure fittings.

Carmex solid carbide thread mills cut threads by CNC helical interpolation — the cutter rotates while traversing a circular path around the bore, advancing axially to produce the thread in a single pass. Unlike a tap, the same tool cuts both internal and external threads, and left-hand threads need nothing more than reversing the helix direction in your CAM program.

Carmex supply these thread mills in four coatings: Bright (uncoated) for aluminium and non-ferrous; TiN for general steel at moderate speeds; TiCN for harder steels and cast iron; AlCrN for stainless steel, titanium, Inconel and hardened materials.
Yes — a thread mill can cut any bore larger than its own diameter. A single M8 full-profile thread mill will thread M8, M10, M12 and larger bores at the same pitch, simply by adjusting the circular interpolation radius in your CAM program.
Use the thread form cards above to filter by standard. Each one links to a sub-page showing only tools for that form, with pitch ranges and diameter options in the product listings. If you're not sure which form applies to your job, the Carmex Tool Wizard above will select the right tool based on your thread specification.
