Description
Solid carbide thread mill for 1–2 NPTF threads at 11.5 TPI, internal or external. The MTB version has a central coolant bore, so coolant goes straight down to the bottom of the hole. That makes it the one to pick for blind holes. It cuts the full thread in one pass and does right-hand and left-hand threads with the same tool.
Carmex lists it as the same tool for internal and external threads, so one cutter does both. MT7 is Carmex’s general-purpose grade: sub-micron carbide with a TiAlN multi-layer coating, meant to run at medium to high cutting speeds across all materials. Carmex rates this tool for material up to 47 HRc. Taper threads need a tapered hole, and Carmex makes solid carbide tapered end mills to prepare it.
