Somta Long Series Drill - HSS-E Parabolic Flute - 9.6mm

The Somta Long Series Drill - HSS-E Parabolic Flute - 9.6mm is built for serious deep-hole work where standard bits fall short. With an extended length and a robust HSS-E core, this drill maintains accuracy and integrity as it pierces thick materials, delivering dependable performance under demanding conditions.

Why this drill stands out

• Optimized for deep hole drilling in substantial workpieces, helping you reach through thicker sections without compromising hole quality.
• HSS-E construction: High-speed steel with enhanced heat resistance for sustained sharpness, reduced wear, and longer tool life in challenging metals.
• Parabolic flute geometry: Efficient chip evacuation minimizes clogging, lowers cutting forces, and improves stability during deep drilling.
• Sharp, precise cutting edges: Cleanly formed holes with consistent diameters, reducing the need for rework and finishing.
• Friction and heat reduction: The flute profile and geometry work together to minimize heat buildup, helping maintain accuracy and extending tool life.

Ideal applications and practical use

Designed for metalworking tasks where deep, accurate holes are essential, this 9.6mm drill excels in thick steel plates, heavy fabrications, and components that demand through-holes with minimal distortion. It’s a reliable choice for fabrication shops, maintenance bays, and workshop projects that require consistent hole quality across extended drilling sessions.

Tips to get the most from your Somta Long Series Drill

• Secure the workpiece firmly to prevent deflection and ensure consistent hole alignment.
• Use a suitable cutting fluid or coolant to manage heat during extended drilling passes and to extend tool life.
• Maintain a steady feed rate to avoid undue binding; pause to allow chips to clear when drilling deep holes.
• Choose compatible tooling for setups that require an end-to-end drilling sequence, such as center drilling or pilot holes for greater accuracy.

With its combination of long-length reach, durable HSS-E steel, and parabolic flute efficiency, this 9.6mm drill delivers reliable, repeatable holes in challenging materials—making it a dependable workhorse for any shop tackling serious deep-hole projects.
