The Nicon range

Two families of vice, and the jaws and bases that go with them. Every jaw set and swivel base is matched to a vice size, so check the fitment table below before you order.
5Lockdown Jaw Machine Vices
The lockdown action pulls the moving jaw down as it clamps, so the work stays seated on the parallels. Five sizes for milling machines and machining centres.

Choosing a vice
Four Things to Decide Before You Order
Get these right and the vice, jaws and base will arrive ready to fit together.
- 1
Jaw Width
Match the jaw width to your parts and machine table: 110, 160 or 210mm for the MMV vices, 80, 100 or 125mm for the 5th axis vices.
- 2
Opening
Check the opening against your largest part. The “+” models open further on the same body; the 5th axis vices open wider with the jaws reversed.
- 3
Machine
Lockdown MMV vices for milling machines and machining centres. FAV vices for 4th and 5th axis rotary tables.
- 4
Jaws and Base
Choose the jaw style for the work, and add a swivel base if the vice needs to sit at an angle. Use the fitment table to match the size.
Questions
Nicon Vices: Common Questions
Which jaw sets fit my Nicon vice?
MMV100 jaw sets fit the MMV-100. MMV160 jaw sets fit both the MMV-150 and the MMV-160+. MMV200 jaw sets fit both the MMV-200 and the MMV-200+. The family code is at the start of the part number, for example MMV160HJ.
What is the difference between the MMV-150 and the MMV-160+?
They have the same 160mm jaw width and body, so they take the same jaws and swivel base. The MMV-160+ has a longer bed, so it opens to 225mm with the standard jaws against 175mm on the MMV-150. The MMV-200 and MMV-200+ work the same way: 255mm and 305mm.
Which jaw style should I choose?
Hard jaws suit general clamping and hard serrated jaws grip rough or sawn stock. Hard stepped jaws have a 3 x 3mm step to hold thin plate clear of the vice. Vee jaws hold round bar and tube. Soft aluminium and soft steel jaws are machined to the shape of the part.
Do the MMV jaw sets fit the 5th axis vices?
No. The FAV 5th axis vices have different jaw geometry, so the MMV jaw sets and swivel bases do not fit them.
What does a swivel base do?
A swivel base sits between the vice and the machine table, so you can turn the vice to an angle. There is one base for each MMV size: SB-MMV100 for the MMV-100, SB-MMV150/160+ for the MMV-150 and MMV-160+, and SB-MMV200/200+ for the MMV-200 and MMV-200+.
