BaerCoil Thread Insert BSW 5/16 x 18 – 1.5 x D is a precision stainless steel insert engineered to reinforce and restore threaded holes in metal assemblies. Built for professionals and serious DIYers, it delivers durable, reliable thread engagement in demanding environments.
- Internal thread size: 5/16-18 BSW, compatible with standard imperial coarse threads for common mechanical assemblies.
- Material: Austenitic chromium-nickel stainless steel (AISI 304) with a tensile strength of at least 1400 N/mm2, offering strong corrosion and heat resistance.
- Cross-section: Cold-formed rhombic wire profile that optimizes engagement area and makes efficient use of space in the drilled hole.
- Insertion length: Engagement length of 1.5 times the nominal diameter (1.5 D) for enhanced withdrawal and load-carrying capability.
- Manufacturing process: Swaged cold-form technology creates precise geometry and uniform density, improving consistency and long-term performance.
- Finish: Natural stainless steel finish designed to withstand wear without requiring additional coatings.
BaerCoil inserts provide superior wear resistance, reduced thread abrasion, and improved surface finish compared with standard threaded connections. The rhombic geometry increases contact area, distributes loads more evenly, and helps prevent thread stripping in high-cycle, high-stress applications. Ideal for repairing damaged threads in softer base materials, reinforcing tapped holes, and extending component life in automotive, machinery, and industrial equipment.
