Dormer Pramet R459 4.50 mm CARBIDE TIALN FORCE-X STEPPED SHANK LONG SERIES (X8D) DRILL

The Dormer Pramet R459 4.50 mm carbide drill is a high-performance cutting tool built for reliability in metalworking. With a stepped shank long series design (X8D), it provides stable alignment in collets and adapters, making it ideal for engineers, machinists, tradespeople, and serious hobbyists who need consistent, precise holes in a variety of metals.

A 140° four-facet split point ensures quick self-centering and reduces the push force during entry, while a Titanium Aluminum Nitride (TiAlN) coating extends life and maintains sharpness in tougher materials. Combined with a CTW flute design and integrated coolant feed, this drill delivers higher cutting speeds and feeds with strong performance and efficient chip evacuation, enabling high-quality holes even at speed.

• Self-centering 140° 4-facet split point: Helps with self-centering and reduces the push force required for clean starts, reducing wandering and improving hole accuracy.
• TiAlN coating for longer life: Increases tool life and enhances performance when drilling harder materials, so fewer tool changes and more productive runs.
• CTW flute design with coolant feed: Adds strength and enables higher cutting speeds and feeds, while efficient chip evacuation reduces heat and improves hole finish.

This premium carbide drill is suitable for drilling a wide range of materials, including steel, aluminum, and stainless steel, and is engineered to deliver consistent results with tight tolerances (h9) at high speeds. Its robust build and coating help you complete demanding jobs with reliability, reducing downtime and boosting overall productivity.
