Description

The Dormer Pramet R458 5.20 mm carbide drill is built for precise, reliable metal drilling across a range of materials. With a short stepped shank (X3D) designed to fit standard DIN 6537 K toolholding, it delivers consistent starts and stable performance in demanding jobs. The 140-degree, four-facet split point self-centers and reduces push force, helping you achieve clean holes with less effort.

Coated with Titanium Aluminium Nitride (TiAlN) and machined from premium carbide, this drill combines long life with strong heat resistance. The CTW flute design adds extra rigidity for higher speeds and feeds, enabling high-quality holes even on harder materials like stainless steel, while maintaining h9 hole tolerance for tight, repeatable results.

Self-centering 140° 4‑facet split point: The 140-degree, four-facet geometry promotes easy entry and precise centering, reducing push force and helping you start holes cleanly with minimal wandering.
TiAlN coating for longer life: Titanium aluminium nitride coating provides wear resistance and heat tolerance, extending tool life and maintaining sharpness when drilling harder materials.
CTW flute design and stepped short shank: The reinforced CTW flute geometry and short stepped shank deliver higher rigidity, allowing faster cutting speeds and feeds while ensuring reliable, repeatable performance in DIN 6537 K holders.

In practice, this drill helps you complete precision holes with tight tolerances (h9) faster, with less rework, and with fewer tool changes thanks to its durability and versatility. The R458 drill combines premium carbide with a robust coating and flute design to deliver consistent hole quality and dependable performance across steel, aluminium, and stainless steel workloads.
